Delbert Hosemann has continued to lie about his involvement with an abortion clinic in Jackson, the South Jackson Woman’s Clinic. He has maintained throughout the campaign that no abortions were performed at the clinic while he was Vice President and Director.
However, this evening I spoke with a lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, but told me that she was offered an abortion at the clinic in 1979, the very time frame of Delbert’s involvement.
Here is her story:
“It was 1979. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant and have a child. I thought I was pregnant but in those days there were no fast, over-the-counter pregnancy tests, so I went to the South Jackson Woman’s Clinic, just to confirm I was pregnant, since I lived close by.”
“After the test, the doctor came into the room and said, ‘You are definitely pregnant.’ I was so excited but the next words out of his mouth shocked me. I can still hear them to this day. He said, ‘Do you want to continue with the pregnancy?’ I said, ‘Yes!’ I said it very forcefully and he got the message.”
“I was in such shock. When I got home I called my mother-in-law to tell her what happened. She said, “Why did you go to that abortion clinic? Everybody knows they do abortions down there!”
“But I had no idea they performed abortions at the clinic. It’s still shocking to me to this day.”
“When I heard Delbert Hosemann say that abortions weren’t going on at the clinic when he was there, I knew I had to share my story.”
Delbert Hosemann has lied to the people of Mississippi throughout this campaign. He was, in fact, the Director and Vice President of an abortion clinic in Jackson where countless unborn children never took their first breath.
